Zipa emerged from Washington, DC in 2023, brought to life by Hector Catano (lead vocals, guitar), Patrick Gorton (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Moses Chavez (drums, backing vocals). The band weaves a unique sonic tapestry that blends 70s post-punk, garage, indie, and surf rock with the vibrant flavors of Latin rock, salsa, and psychedelic cumbia. Drawing on their members’ diverse origins and influences, Zipa creates music that fuses the rhythmic complexity of Latin traditions with the raw energy of alternative rock.
