Celebration Summer, from the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington DC, began as a message board posting in late 2019 when bassist Greg Raelson sought out members to bring forth from the ashes a style reminiscent of the late 80’s/early 90’s melodic punk rock he grew up on.
With a pounding rhythm section punctuated by Raelson’s melodic bass and drummer Chris Ricci’s heavy-hitting, while incorporating Dan Hauser’s driving guitars and Nate Falger’s poignant lyricism, visceral vocal stylings, and angular guitar structures, Celebration Summer’s anthemic, progressive songs capture the struggles faced in a divided America.
They have shared the stage with notable artists such as Ignite, Suicide Machines, The Casket Lottery, The Messthetics (ex-Fugazi), Mikey Erg (The Ergs!, etc.), Dave Smalley (Dag Nasty, All, DYS, Don’t Sleep, etc.), Jon Snodgrass (Armchair Martian, Drag the River), & others, & have been invited to perform at prominent festivals around the world including playing the past multiple years at THE FEST, a FL punk festival drawing over 8,000 attendees. “These guys make the perfect counter to anyone who says there’s no ‘good’ punk rock these days.” – Dying Scene
