Josee Molavi brings soul-jazz vocals to center stage in her genre-bending, artful sound. Molavi is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and songwriter grown from blues rock roots — recently breaking into her hometown music scene in the Baltimore-Washington metro area on the momentum of her self-released debut album Break Your Heart Til It Opens and EP People and Places.
With her electric stage presence and dynamic discography, Molavi fronts a band of high-caliber multi-genre musicians— aka her childhood friends Sam Hickman (drums), Jack Yearwood (guitar), Alex Hagopian (bass), and brother Evan Molavi (auxiliary percussion). The group works together out of Molavi’s home studio to write, record, and produce everything DIY.
Her sound, orchestrated alongside lead producer Hagopian, combines intricate melodies and acoustic textures against an indie-alternative backdrop. Altogether Molavi’s music is groovy, nostalgic and inimitable.
