Astronomy on Tap
Astronomy on Tap DC is now hosted by DC9 and is organized by Steph LaMassa, an astronomer who works at Space Telescope Science Institute.

Each event features professional astronomers giving short, engaging talks, prize giveaways, and AoTDC merch available for a small donation.

Astronomy on Tap DC is excited to start out the new year by returning to DC9 Nightclub for a fun-filled night of astronomy talks, prize giveaways, and telescope viewing! Our talk line-up:

How the Sun is trying to kill us (and other solar curiosities) – Becca Ljungren (Phoebe Waterman Haas Public Observatory at Smithsonian Air & Space Museum)

How Saturn is losing its ring system and why Jupiter’s Great Red Spot is roaring with heat – James O’Donoghue (NASA Goddard Space Flight Center)

Cosmic X-ray Tsunamis – Stephen Walker (NASA Goddard Space Flight Center)

Following the talks, join us on the rooftop bar for skygazing through telescopes (weather permitting), courtesy of Becca Ljungren and her team of astronomy educators from the Public Observatory!

We’ll have Astronomy Bingo and trivia, where you can win an AoTDC pint glasses! Additional pint glasses and AoTDC T-shirts are available for a donation.
